JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leading and implementing assigned radiation protection programs, such as ALARA, Planning, scheduling, and attending meetings as necessary.

JOB DUTIES
  • Implement and maintain the Radiation Work Permit Program.
  • Track collective radiation exposure for personnel and work tasks.
  • Prepare and implement As-Low-As-Reasonably-Achievable (ALARA) radiation dose planning, including dose estimating, dose tracking, shielding/technology implementation evaluations and installation, source term removal/mitigation.
  • Propose time saving tooling and work methods.
  • Work with the Health Physicist over dosimetry to ensure individual radiation exposure is monitored and reported in accordance with station procedures and regulatory requirements. 
  • Implement area monitoring program for higher risk work activities. 
  • Perform and document technical analyses related to radiological source term to support RP programs; including dosimetry, instrumentation needs and radioactive waste shipping.
  • Support procedure revisions, self-assessments, corrective action evaluations, ALARA Managers Committee presentations, and completion of performance indicators. 
  • Work with site personnel to develop and complete Radiation Work Permits (RWPs) and ALARA Plans.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO), including maintaining the ability to respond to assigned emergency facility within the times prescribed in the Emergency Plan when on-call.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required for the position:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum experience required for the position:
  • 4 years of commercial or military nuclear experience.
  • Required: At least 4 years in radiation protection.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
  • Technical proficiency in the RP Support area.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
  • Proficiency with the Sentinel Radiation Protection Management Program and current computer business applications.
