Sr. Communications Specialist

Holtec Decommissioning International (HDI) is currently seeking a Sr. Communications Specialist to join the Palisades Nuclear Plant team in Covert, MI.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the development, management, and execution of internal site communications and assists in crafting key messages and materials for internal and external stakeholder groups.


JOB DUTIES
  • Implement a communications strategy to inform cross-functional staff and support best-in-class performance. Maintain an open and transparent environment with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support communication needs for Holtec’s Palisades leadership, including meetings, presentations, speeches, talking points, internal memos, and business-related messaging.
  • Implement broad-based employee communications, such as executive messaging and employee meetings and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with Government Affairs and Communications staff on the development of key messages, subject matter, and copy.
  • Adopt industry communications best practices to support focus on safety and operational performance.
  • Assist with the management of Holtec’s graphic standards and market branding, including strategies, materials, and communication plans to support and promote major functional initiatives and projects.
  • Utilize social media to communicate key messages. Evaluate and recommend usage for optimal positive exposure. Provide technical guidance to colleagues on usage.
  • Support response to news media and other external stakeholders. Manage logistics for news media, external visitors, and special events.
  • Proactively seek out positive earned media opportunities to showcase plant work, investments, and community impact.
  • Assist in maintaining editorial or departmental standards. May edit the work of and/or provide guidance and direction to other staff members.
  • Monitor industry news and social media and identify emerging issues.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education and experience required of the position:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, Journalism, or a related field, and 6+ years of professional experience in communications OR in lieu of a bachelor’s degree 8 years of professional experience in communications is required.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong sense of personal integrity and an abiding commitment to safety.
  • Strategic and integrated communications planning skills.
  • Risk identification and mitigation planning that impact stakeholder groups.
  • Strong relationship building and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proactive, positive storytelling that supports operations and business strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to use or learn an array of publishing software such as Office 365, HTML editing software, web analytics, social media platforms and a variety of audio, video and infographic production programs.
  • On-the-record experience with news media preferred.
  • Knowledge of nuclear energy or the energy industry a plus.
