Job Summary

Responsible for providing first line supervision of full time and temporary Mechanical Maintenance personnel in a safe, productive manner and for managing multiple and possibly conflicting priorities within the Nuclear Mechanical Department.


Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Proficient at managing a multi-disciplined Mechanical Maintenance group, possibly including union and contractor oversight.
  • Maintains an excellent understanding of the work management process. Must be able to function as a team leader.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist in the Mechanical Maintenance budget development and function within the budget. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including representing the Mechanical Maintenance department at all meetings.
  • Ensures assigned Mechanical Maintenance tasks are performed as safely and efficiently as possible. Proposes time saving tooling and work methods. Ensures all Mechanical Maintenance activities are performed within regulatory and procedural guidelines. Ability to manage Mechanical Maintenance personnel and resolve employee conflict or concerns.
  • Interfaces with other sites to maximize resource sharing for Mechanical Maintenance. Interfaces with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station Mechanical Maintenance activities. Communicates Mechanical Maintenance technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Participates in the shared resources program. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position:
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
                       
Minimum experience required of the position:
  • 5 years of experience in the related field. (B.S. in Engineering or related technical degree may be credited for 3 years of experience.)
  • 4 years of experience in craft or discipline he/she supervises.
  • At least 5 years experience in the Mechanical Maintenance department.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
  • 2 years of technical training.
  • Technical proficiency in the Mechanical Maintenance area.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications.    
                       
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position:
SRO or certification on BWR or PWR (desired). Candidates for this position must meet requirements specified in ANSI/ANS Standards and Regulatory Guidelines. In addition, site Technical Specifications, FSAR, or procedures may contain additional requirements. Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.3.2 - Supervisors Not Requiring NRC Licenses: High School Diploma or equivalent. 4 years of experience in craft or discipline he/she supervises.

At the time of initial core loading or appointment to the position, whichever is later, a supervisor in this category shall have a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in the craft or discipline he supervises."
