What You’ll Need to Succeed Education Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred. Alternative Path: If the candidate does not possess a relevant four‑year degree, an additional four years of relevant work experience will be required. Required Experience Minimum of 5-7 years of Information Technology experience. Participate in the project planning and development process. Assist or lead in preparing programming specifications and in developing coding logic. Design, code, test, and debug software application, independently. Maintains highly complex and technical applications and systems. Translating business and technical requirements into application architecture. Implement and maintain DevSecOps (CI/CD). Performs other job‑related tasks as assigned or required to support the duties outlined. Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Familiarity with agile methodologies, testing, and debugging. Developing APIs per OpenAPI Specification. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams. Required Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Java with hands‑on experience developing, testing, and deploying enterprise applications. Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming , design principles, and software engineering best practices. Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating with external services. Proficiency with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and/or Spring Security). Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL; familiarity with ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate/JPA). Experience with version control systems such as Git, including branching and pull‑request workflows. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines , automated testing, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver high‑quality, maintainable code in a collaborative environment. Preferred Skills Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Exposure to front‑end technologies such as JavaScript, React, Angular, or TypeScript. Understanding of DevOps practices , including Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools. Familiarity with API design standards , authentication protocols and security best practices. Experience with performance tuning , profiling, and optimizing applications. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Security Clearance Level Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting. This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years. U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non‑U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years. The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 – $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire.
