Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Electrical Engineer (I-V) located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville , Nebraska. Position closes 05/31/2023 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Position Summary Assignments are designed to develop general knowledge of professional engineering practice in the electric utility industry and introduce customer/supplier communication skills. Intermediate level engineer responsible for independently trending equipment, evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria while recommending equipment maintenance, replacements and/or performing modifications. Typical assignments are in the areas of engineering, problem solving, and technical support for the optimum operation and maintenance of company assets. Participates on teams of field employees, technicians, engineers and other personnel. This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 45 minutes of notification of an emergency. Note: Level I to Level V Engineer is considered a progression and is approved by the appropriate manager. Engineering positions are managed under the NPPD Nuclear Engineering Career Path document. Education, Training and Experience Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (ABET Accredited) or Professional Engineering License. Other Requirements: Proficient communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word Ability to perform cost estimating and scheduling Technical math and writing skills Entry into the Nuclear Engineering Support Program (ESP) once hired Licenses and/or Certifications None Essential Duties & Responsibilities Review and initiate corrective action based upon information from internal investigations and industry sources. Research new equipment technology; Utilize drawings; Utilize technical software: Review design codes & standards; Review regulatory requirements May develop design requirements; Prepare design calculations; Develop drawings and material lists; Develop installation requirements; Develop acceptance testing criteria; Prepare Engineering Changes (EC) to modify the plant. May trend equipment performance. May develop and/or review Cyber Security digital evaluations and assessments of digital assets to maintain compliance to the Cyber Security Rule. Should possess the ability to interface at all levels of management and co-workers, and strive to be a team player. Accountable for other duties as assigned.
