Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for three Nuclear Independent Oversight Assessor positions located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville , Nebraska. Position closes May 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time or until filled. This position will report to the Dicrector of Nuclear Independent Oversight. Position Summary The NIOS assessor position is intended to provide independent oversight and assessment of functional area performance for activities at Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS). Assessors will evaluate the performance of individuals and functional areas in support of ensuring both compliance and excellence in the performance of work activities and processes. Assessors are also responsible for clearly communicating performance gaps to both NIOS and management. Rotational positions are utilized as development opportunities for individuals with an interest in progressing into management positions. Education, Training and Experience Bachelor of science degree in Engineering or related scientific/technical field with 2 years’ experience at a commercial nuclear power plant OR Associates degree in scientific/technical field with 4 years’ experience at a commercial nuclear power plant OR Equivalent military training and 4 years’ experience at a commercial nuclear power plant OR High School/GED with six years of experience at a commercial nuclear power plant Licenses and/or Certifications RO/SRO experience desired but not required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with NIOS Assessment staff weekly to establish an overall assessment plan. Perform observations/assessments of assigned areas. Perform trending of individual/department performance for assigned areas. Draft performance assessment reports for assigned areas. Communicate issues discovered through observation to management personnel in assigned areas. Recommend appropriate level of screening of issues to the Corrective Action Program screening group. Provide performance oversight to the direction, conduct, and focus of the assessment process and recognize and articulate the significance of issues identified. Responsible for the planning, conduct, and execution of assessment briefs, reports, and follow-up activities. Evaluate assessment issues identified by NIOS team members for appropriate disposition, including reporting to management, problem identification reporting, and elevation/escalation of issues. Monitor the development, implementation and effectiveness of actions and action plans taken in response to items monitored by the NIOS Organization. Accountable for other duties as assigned. Pay Grade – 14 Exempt Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $7,520.00 – $9,589.00 per month Individual may be eligible for the NIOS Sr. Assessor position at pay grade 15 if qualifications are met. Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need.
