**Position Specific Description**

They are helping shape our company and how our customers see us. With seven nuclear reactors at five plant sites around the country, today, FPL’s nuclear fleet is one of the largest in the nation. Currently, we are seeking a Nuclear Electrical Staff Engineer to join our team at our St. Lucie Nuclear Plant. The site is located on the Treasure Coast in Jensen Beach, FL and generates enough power to supply the annual needs of more than 1 million homes.

+ Provides technical leadership and mentoring to Electrical Engineers

+ Lead Complex Troubleshooting and Failure Investigation Process (FIP) teams

+ Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

+ Provide technical expertise in development of technical specifications, procedures, and processes

+ Provides leadership and technical expertise for vendor suppliers

+ Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters.

+ Respond as needed during off-hours as nuclear power generation business operates ‘around the clock’

+ Preferred Qualifications:

+ Strongly preferred to have knowledge and experience in troubleshooting, design, testing and repair techniques of electrical distribution systems and their auxiliaries.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least ten years of experience in the field of electrical distribution and distribution auxiliary equipment technology.

This job directs the completion of projects that require unique industry experience and professional expertise. Employees in this role plan resolutions to large-magnitude nuclear plant problems. Individuals recommend and implement approved solutions and improvements.

+ Plans, develops, coordinates and directs large important projects or small projects with complex problems

+ Performs activity requiring original concepts and a high level of experience and expertise with little or no supervision

+ Provides expertise and leadership for the completion of assigned projects

+ Leads teams or other small groups possessing special expertise in a particular field or discipline

+ Participates in industry forums and standards groups

+ Assists with modifications, maintenance, tests and problem solving

+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s – Engineering

+ Experience: 15+ years

+ Nuclear Experience: 10+ years

+ Supervisor/Management Experience: 4+ years

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master’s – Engineering

+ Certified Professional Engineer (PE)

**Special Requirements**

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

+ Plant site operations or maintenance experience: 2+ years
