**Position Specific Description**

• Responsible for evaluating data, initiating action, and providing recommendations for plant operation to ensure continued nuclear safety and long-term asset preservation.

• Utilize and maintain complex analytical instrumentation while verifying precision and accuracy via quality assurance and control methods.

• Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses including sampling, in-service testing or testing and measuring of radioactive contaminants and chemical properties of various liquid and gaseous streams in nuclear plant systems and components.

• Implement safe laboratory practices and ensure compliance with regulations, procedures, and policies in the conduct of daily work.

• Maintain records, evaluate trends, and develop new/more efficient methods.

• Train and provide guidance to new or less experienced nuclear chemistry technicians.

**Job Overview**

Performs analytical, preventive and corrective chemical/radiochemical functions as necessary to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Station. Evaluates results and prescribes the necessary chemical treatment or adjustments to maintain established control limits. Maintains accurate logs and records of all data pertinent to Station water treatment.

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**

+ Performs senior level technician duties within the Chemistry Department, which includes installation, inspection, calibration, adjustment, and use of the plant chemistry, components, systems and test equipment.

+ Participates in and successfully completes Station and Chemistry Department training programs; and continues participation in such programs to enhance job proficiency.

+ Participates in non-routine activities such as unscheduled outages, refueling and special projects that require the Chemistry Department’s participation.

+ Recommends changes to existing Chemistry methods, procedures and applications to improve overall Station operation.

+ Performs assigned duties in accordance with approved plant procedures, accepted radiation protection practices, regulatory policies, Quality Assurance Program, safety rules and regulations; prepares related reports, procedures, logs and other historical data.

+ Performs, independently, special tasks and analysis using advanced analytical techniques, methods and complex systems and laboratory instruments.

+ Prepares and may present detailed programs and procedures for the Chemistry Department as assigned.

+ Required to be a member of the Seabrook Station Emergency Response Organization (ERO), when assigned, and to adhere to all related requirements specified in the Seabrook Station Radiological Emergency Plan. These requirements include, but are not limited to, maintaining applicable ERO position qualifications, participation in drills and exercises, and responding to an actual emergency (including radiological).

+ Required to participate in major outages, when assigned, by performing a designated outage position, and maintaining required training qualifications. An outage assignment may involve shiftwork and/or working extended hours outside of normal schedule.

+ Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

**Required Qualifications**

+ High school diploma or equivalent required.

+ Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent education and/or experience preferred.

+ Four years of experience in chemistry preferably at Seabrook Station or a nuclear power plant or similar facility. _(Reference ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993)_

+ Successful completion of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) aptitude test required.
