POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general direction, coordinate and day-to-day Environmental compliance, NERC compliance and/or Licensing compliance activities for the Talen Montana generation facilities. Works with regular guidance using knowledge of scientific/technical/engineering concepts in the disciplines required for the specific position, conferring with supervision or other experts on unusual situations. This position provides limited guidance and direction to other Talen Montana employees or contractors to support implementation of cost-effective compliance activities. This position has limited interface on technical issues with State, Federal, and Local regulatory agencies, the public, facility operators, and other applicable internal and external stakeholders
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates, plans, conducts, and directs compliance activities as required by regulation, permit or license, with regular guidance. Compliance areas may include expertise in one or more of the following: water quality science and monitoring, river and water management, fisheries and aquatic science, water-based avian wildlife, terrestrial wildlife science, wetland and riparian habitats, public recreation and safety, NERC regulatory compliance, FERC regulatory compliance, superfund, acid rain, hazardous waste management, toxic release inventory, ambient air quality, quality assurance, spill monitoring (SPCC), community right to know (tier I & II), employee right to know, underground storage tank management, risk management planning, PCB management, reclamation, noxious weed control, dust monitoring and control, source emission monitoring, source reference method testing, State Implementation plans, NPDES monitoring, emergency response, coal combustion byproduct utilization, carbon capture and sequestration, MSDS interpretation, asbestos management, and others as required.
Interfaces with state and federal agencies, tribal agencies, public interest groups, and the general public to effectively implement compliance activities, as directed by supervisor.
Prepares compliance reports for review by supervisor to meet regulatory, permit and license requirements.
Helps prepare and manage project budgets and contracts for compliance activities.
Provides technical review of state and federal regulations, permit and license requirements, and current information to ensure compliance is maintained in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
Assists with the design, execution, and technical guidance on compliance monitoring programs for the Talen Montana generation facilities, including safety, operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel under direction of supervisor.
Works with employees, contractors, and contracts to ensure compliance for all Talen Montana requirements.
Conducts compliance activities safely
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in engineering, science or business-related field; or, Associates Degree in science or business-related field and 5 years related experience; or, 8+ years directly related experience
This position may be filled at a higher level (Support Compliance Professional or Senior Compliance Professional) based on applicant qualifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Licensing Compliance, Environmental Compliance or NERC Compliance requirements.
Knowledge of network administration.
Working knowledge of power plant operations.
Experience working with regulatory agencies.
NERC Certification
