Reporting to an Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is a critical member of the corporate accounting team performing the accounting, reporting, and analysis of various corporate activities, as well as supporting the development and application of US GAAP accounting policies and maintaining internal controls.
This position is primarily responsible for accounting activity related to debt and general and administrative activities, it includes accounting for other corporate activities, some of which may involve activities related to new business initiatives. The role is an excellent opportunity to learn about a wide variety of business activities while interacting with the corporate teams, including treasury, legal, and operations.
This role requires exceptional skills to understand the underlying economics and commercial rationale related to significant transactions and to concisely articulate and document the relevant accounting conclusions. A working knowledge of internal control frameworks and an ability to collaborate across the Company will facilitate working relationships at the business units to direct internal control procedures and coordinate process improvements. The ability to correctly account for a wide range of activity and proactively identify and resolve accounting issues is a critical success factor for the candidate.

What will you own?
Review contractual arrangements as pertinent to debt and commercial operations and determine accounting implications
Prepare journal entries related to:
Debt and other financings
General and administrative expenses
Perform and review account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, ensure accuracy of information, and provide variance analysis
Develop and maintain accounting schedules including debt roll-forwards, prepayment amortizations, and lease amortizations, and others as required to support account reconciliations
Prepare flux analysis for corporate balance sheet accounts and certain income statement line items for management and audit review
Prepares and analyzes requested information in support of the audit requests
Prepares disclosures and financial statement workpapers
Interface with external auditors and support accounting positions taken
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services. Solves more complex problems taking a new perspective on existing solutions

Licensed CPA preferred
Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience
Broad exposure to IPPs and/or in-depth energy industry accounting experience preferred
Accounting or finance degree (or equivalent); graduate degree is a plus
Public Accounting experience within a large firm with SEC and/or power industry clients is a plus
