***This position can be hired as either an Engineer I or an Engineer II depending on experience***

DPS Engineer I/II

Job Summary:

This position supports a corporate based team that engages in fleet digital engineering functions including traditional Digital Process Systems functions, modernization project leadership and I&C lifecycle management within the Nuclear Generation Department (NGD).  This includes assignment of digital based components, systems and/or software for purposes of establishing fleet architectural requirements and configuration rules, providing technical support to installation base, tracking associated license and contract renewals and providing testing and commissioning support to new installations as well as other related tasks.  Duties also include support of modernization initiatives requiring extensive collaboration with multiple generation stations both within nuclear and outside nuclear. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical lead and architect for common digital components, systems and software.
  • Design, manage and maintain non-controlled plant equipment platforms used for condition- based monitoring decisions within nuclear.
  • Lead digitalization and modernization initiative deployment for the fleet.
  • Administration of corporate DPS owned digital platforms.
  • Maintenance of corporate DPS development systems.
  • Contract technical owner for common digital platform contracts.
  • Willingness to accept new responsibilities and be eager to learn new concepts and technologies in support of company initiatives.

Basic/Required Qualifications:

Nuclear Engineer I

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.

Nuclear Engineer II

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer networks (Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Demonstrated experience configuring servers, firewalls, switches, data diodes.
  • Demonstrated experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Demonstrated experience with virtualized environments using VMWare.
  • Previous Nuclear Station work experience with Plant Monitoring System, Plant Security Computer, and Cyber Security Defensive Architecture.
  • Demonstrated platform and application engineering experience with Emerson or Westinghouse Ovation and Honeywell Experion systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing, configuring, and testing Tricon PLC systems.
  • Demonstrated experienced network engineer, specifically for determining necessary architecture and configuring network devices.
  • Demonstrated experience with configuration and administration of OSI-PI systems.
  • Previous design engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with interfacing to plant simulator systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing software testing scripts, software test plan development, and software test execution.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers in all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to deliver superior results within allocated time through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work.
  • Demonstrated the ability to work as part of a team, be a self-starter, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing processes, regulations, responsibilities, and work environments.

Specific Requirements:

  • In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified. 
  • Ability to obtain Nuclear Unescorted Access.
  • Individual will be required to pass site security access requirements including General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks, critical group and subject to the site’s Fitness for Duty Program.
  • This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
  • Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, clothing, earplugs, fall protection, etc.) as needed.
  • Must be able to pass required Engineering Training Program requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel up to 10%.
  • Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant.
  • The work week is Monday – Thursday (Fridays/weekends as needed), 10-hour days.  After completion of initial training and/or obtaining applicable qualifications, the candidate will work a hybrid schedule – two days onsite, two days remote.
