This position is primarily responsible for management of all phases of planning and delivery of Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas Residential Solutions product and service projects, initiatives as well as daily support of relevant CRM platforms and system applications. These services target Duke Energy’s customer base and generate revenue of roughly $150 million across all Duke’s jurisdictions/affiliates. This position requires strong project management skills, strong communications, ability to manage internal/external relationships and ability to learn and adapt quickly to technical concepts, systems, and applications. The role requires strong leadership, indirect supervision, and guidance internally/externally to successfully launch new products, product and services enhancements meeting timelines as well and within budget.  The role will lead through design, requirements gathering, documentation, scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, change management, security, testing, implementation as well as defect management and post launch transition.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following

  • Develop a deep understanding of Residential Solutions products and services portfolio, relevant systems/platforms, and departmental operations to facilitate and empower portfolio growth, add efficiencies, and ultimately better service Residential Solutions customers.

  • Initiate projects demonstrating business need and project feasibility to efficiently and effectively secure authorization and commitment from key stakeholders.

  • May develop estimated project budgets, proposed schedules, work plans, resource requirements, cost estimate and projections.

  • Identify stakeholders internally/externally required for specific to project and initiative needs, timelines, contracts, systems, sales channels, etc.

  • With no direct reports, provide leadership, oversight, delegation, and coordination with various internal and external organizations providing services to the project (Development, Project Controls, Production Support, Advanced Customer Care, CPG, Legal, EHS, QA/QC, Operations, Communications, Regulatory, etc.).

  • Establish and maintain communications among project/programs stakeholders coordinating structured cadence of which the role would lead or co-lead in to ensure open communication between team members, key stakeholders, and management.

  • Adequately and professionally present project methodology and processes to relevant team members (Executive Sponsorship, Governance, TRG, Departmental updates, etc.)

  • Monitor and manage project quality and cost to ensure project deliverables are acceptable, meet the objectives of the project specifications and are complete within expected timelines and within budget.

  • Identifies potential risks/barriers or challenges with designs to ensure proactive mitigation and risk elimination.

  • Prepare, communicate, or report monthly project status, kickoff meetings, weekly and monthly required communication.

  • Champion the process of project planning including scope and work definition, estimating, schedule formation, monitoring, cost control measures, procurement/contracting strategies, vendor selection, start-up, owner transition operations, warranty management.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND five (5 ) years minimum required related experience

  • OR High School / GED degree AND 9 years minimum required related experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration

  • In addition to desired degree 7+ years

  • Certified Associate of Project Management

  • Professional Engineer, Professional Developer, IT Project Manager or IT architect experience

  • Project Management Professional

  • Configuration Management II Professional (CM2-P)

  • Working Knowledge to Proficiency in Project Management, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving

  • Project related work experience

  • Risk Management, Project Leadership, Proven Collaborative Team Member

  • Utility Experience, Construction Management knowledge

  • Working knowledge to proficiency in project related Scheduling/ Cost Controls

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the assigned Duke Energy facility.

  • Work location - all jurisdictions to be considered.
