Job Summary

GSOC, the Gas System Operations Center, is responsible for the 24x7 monitoring and operation of PSE&G’s Gas Transmission and Distribution System. 
The GSOC Senior Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing operational and support staff, consisting of Qualified System Operators and Gas Supply Analysts, to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the mission-critical transmission and distribution systems.  Responsible for the oversight of daily operations activities and coordination with multiple departments to deliver natural gas safely, economically, and efficiently to PSE&G’s customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide the on-shift operation of the Gas Delivery System during normal and emergency conditions.
  • Perform day-ahead load forecasting.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the System Operators to ensure the system is operated in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
  • Follow procedures to ensure PSE&G maintains compliance with PHMSA, FERC, NERC Mandatory Standards.
  • Analyze disturbances on the Gas Delivery System to determine proper corrective action and appropriate agency reporting.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls, integrity and corporate policies.
  • Evaluate and prepare performance & accountability partnerships for the associates on your shift.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, lead, train and assist associates and customers.
  • Establish a sense of urgency to complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business or Computer Science or a related field experience with minimum of 9 years in the gas or pipeline industry.
  • Minimum 5 years’ in Gas Control, Gas Regulation, Measurement, Gas Operations, pipeline safety and /or related mechanical skills
  • Must have 5 years or more of extensive experience with operating natural gas pipeline systems
  • Experience performing daily gas sendout estimating.
  • Ability to manage, direct train and motivate employees
  • Must be decisive
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively; exercise independent action, judgement and risk management; act decisively and interact effectively with all gas control peers and gas pipeline stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Control Room Management (CRM) Plan and completion of mandatory annual PHMSA CRM training including; Operator Qualification, Fatigue Education and Team Training
  • Have a thorough understanding of company Gas emergency procedures, safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be adept at reading maps, blueprints and piping schematics and have the ability to identify and respond to all audio and visual alarms.
  • Must be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments 
  • Must possess a valid U. S.  driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory  driving record

 

Desired:  

  • BA/BS in Business or Engineering
  • 5 Years of technical knowledge of PSE&G Gas Distribution System
  • 7 Years or more experience as a Gas System Operator
  • Experience supervising and managing personnel
  • Advanced Knowledge of Gas System Operations
