Job Description

The Rotordynamics Design Intern position is a challenging but fulfilling assignment for candidates who aspire to excel in Rotordynamics of turbomachinery.

The position will include training and real world applications for the following:

  • Rotordynamics topics related to design, testing and operation of Gas Compressors
  • Rotordynamic analysis of rotors, mode shapes and frequencies
  • Bearing design (tilt pad bearings, squeeze film damper bearings, etc)
  • Complex full scale compressor development tests
  • Field support and root cause analysis

* Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in Bachelor or Master program in Mechanical, Aerospace or a STEM degree
  • Classified by your school as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior planning to attend graduate school, or currently attending graduate school.
  • Overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

*Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing knowledge of Rotordynamics
  • Vibrations, Tribology and Fluid Mechanics familiarity
  • Vibration measurements, Spectrum analysis and diagnosis of vibration issues familiarity
  • Finite Element Analysis and associated numerical methods familiarity
  • High-energy, motivation and engineering curiosity to analyze and resolve technical problems
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in any computer programming languages (such as FORTRAN, Visual C++, Visual Basic or MatLab)

Compensation:

  • The hourly range for this role is: $25.40-$35.80. Actual compensation will be based on graduation year.
  • This internship will include a housing stipend and flight reimbursement on top of bi- weekly pay.
