POSITION SUMMARY:

Refinery Value Chain Optimization is seeking a motivated employee with interest in refinery scheduling, process improvement, logistics, and managing long term maintenance plans. This position will work across the Refinery Value Chain Optimization, Refinery Products Control, Refinery TAR Group, and Refinery Technical Services Project organizations.

RVCO views this as a mid-career role for an employee seeking to become an SME in refinery scheduling, specifically mastering APS skills and support. This position is located at the Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, TX, and will report directly to the Economics & Planning Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities are managing the site APS software to support site system coordinators and implement long term plans in APS.

The candidate will be expected to:

  • Manage long term maintenance schedules, interfacing with site TAR group and with the RVCO team to ensure local refinery plans align with strategic regional outage schedules.

  • Work with the local refinery project teams to assist in vetting and developing logistics projects for the site.

  • The position will work closely with RVCO and refinery-based personnel.

  • The ideal candidate should be a problem solver interested in developing and maintaining site APS efficiency.

  • The applicant will be expected to work heavily in a team environment, but also expected to perform individual responsibilities with limited supervision.

  • The applicant will also be expected to train for multiple backfill responsibilities within the group, both for coverage and professional development.

  • The successful candidate will be required to develop into a leader within the team, providing experience and direction to less experienced co-workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

  • A minimum of 10 years refining experience in economics/planning/operations is required. 5 years of APS/PIMS experience is required. 15 years of overall refining experience is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

  • Aspen Scheduling (Orion/APS/MBO) proficiency is required.
