The individual works independently, or as a key member of the Emissions team, to be the point of contact and technician for our Mobile Emission Labs (MEL’s). These labs deploy both locally as well as throughout the continental U.S. to support the development testing and evaluation of turbomachinery products, with an emphasis on turbine emissions and fuel composition measurements. The technician will plan and coordinate complex work assignments and department projects with minimal technical direction and routinely applies advanced technical training, procedures, and equipment to support test or metrology activities. The individual in this role is responsible for operation, data gathering, calibration, and maintenance of the Mobile Emissions Lab

DIMENSIONS

Travel is required in this role with deployments happening up to 50% of the calendar year. The individual is regarded as a department-recognized technical authority, possessing comprehensive knowledge in turbine emissions and fuel composition measurements. Responsibilities involve operation, calibration or maintenance of emissions equipment required to support production, development, first article and NPI products, performing fabrication, setup, installation, and evaluation functions in support of engineering projects. Impact of decisions will affect key projects or program deliverables.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Provides coordination of complex work assignments and department projects, especially during the deployment and extraction of mobile emissions equipment to offsite locations.

  • Coordinates work between various projects to support testing objectives and prioritizes inputs from competing interests.

  • Frequently required to develop solutions to difficult technical problems.

  • Develops new techniques or procedures and evaluates and introduces new equipment to enhance safety, quality, and velocity.

  • Troubleshoots difficult technical issues.

  • Applies fundamentals of data evaluation, error and uncertainty analysis and equipment calibration fundamentals.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Understands, complies, and advocates company EHS procedures and frequently coaches others for safety.

  • Plans and coordinates complex work assignments and department projects independently or as a member of a team, especially during the deployment, operations, and extraction of mobile emissions equipment to offsite locations.

  • Demonstrates sound technical judgment and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical problems.

  • Serves as the department focal point for expertise and knowledge in turbine emissions and fuel composition measurements.

  • Provides on-site operational and logistical support when the mobile emissions laboratories are deployed to customer sites (one to two times per year)

  • Trains and mentors lower salary grade technicians.

  • Relied upon to apply refined, specialized technical expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairing test equipment.

  • Minimum of 3 years mechanical or electrical-related experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment

  • Proactive problem-solving skills required to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with and demonstrated knowledge of Solar's turbomachinery products.

  • Prior metrology experience or experience with gas turbine emissions and gaseous fuel composition measuring equipment.

  • Associate's, technical or equivalent degree/training.

  • Green Belt Certification.

  • Turbomachinery Controls experience.

Summary Pay Range:

$79,680.00 - $119,520.00
