Job Posting End Date 04-01-2024 Job Summary The Enterprise NERC Reliability Assurance (ENRA) team at AEP provides coordination and decision-making authority for NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) compliance obligations. The team leads cross business unit teams, executes process improvements, performs root cause and incident analysis, provides independent oversight and technical support, project and risk management, metrics development, and engagement and outreach. The team operates in a matrix environment that interfaces directly with federal and regional regulators. ***One position resides in ENRA within Risk & Controls and second role will reside in Compliance Management. Job Description ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS These duties require an expert level knowledge of the NERC Standards and an ability to engage key staff at NERC and/or the Regions to add clarity regarding what is required to demonstrate compliance. Engage key stakeholders to improve NERC controls. Lead departmental coordination meetings to verify the work activities of SMEs and stakeholders fully demonstrate AEP's compliance with NERC reliability standards at the federal & regional level. Analyze operational data systems to track adherence to reliability compliance standards. Engage with and advocate for stakeholders in new standards development and review process. Ensure appropriate controls and operational processes; track and monitor newly developed standards. Analyze emerging NERC developments to enhance the monitoring and tracking of reliability compliance standards. Analyze feedback responses to drafting reviewing and complying with the NERC Reliability Standards/other standards. Engage in periodic Regional Entity (RE) and Regional Transmission Operator (RTO) audits and consult and advise internal audits. Produce and communicate assessments of compliance-related materials. Lead assessments of design and operational effectiveness of internal controls. Produce analytics to assess health of ENRA program; develop new metrics and reports; analyze program metrics and communicate results to stakeholders. Support completion of externally-mandated deliverables, including compliance monitoring activities per NERC Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP).  Support the drafting of responses to data requests; analyze data for trends/quality; advocate for consistency in responses from enterprise; support audits and other monitoring activities. Support investigations of self-reports and development of mitigation plans; engage responsible leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) in operational BUs. Support and advocate process improvement efforts related to internal controls. Support organizational alignment through an enterprise-wide approach to achieving a state of audit readiness with each new NERC reliability Standard. Contribute in governance-related activities and provide program-wide perspective to coordinate achieving strategic goals focused on risk, controls, and operational excellence. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: NERC Compliance Specialist Principal: Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, communications, computer science, business, or other related field of study; or an Associate's degree in one of the aforementioned fields of study and two (2) years of relevant work experience Master’s Degree is desirable. Certification/Licensure is preferred. Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in electric utility or similarly regulated industry. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support of Company’s Corporate Compliance policy. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and ability to initiate solutions to complex technical issues. Demonstrate ability to effectively and efficiently develop functional relationships on all levels as well as external partnerships with various regulatory agencies/industry organizations. Proficient in oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategy and provide guidance to management and witnesses on case as required. Proficient in navigating and creating spreadsheets is required. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate deadlines to enable the organization to not miss deadlines. Occasional travel will be required. Compensation Data Compensation Grade: SP20-009 Compensation Range: $110,656.00-143,853.50 USD Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities. The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position: AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories or international work locations.
