POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ohio Refining Division located in Canton, Ohio, is seeking a Maintenance Refining Instrument and Electrical Planner. This position is responsible for supporting maintenance E&I shop with troubleshooting and repair scope for E&I equipment, developing detailed job plans, ordering material and/or equipment to effectively execute the routine maintenance work in a safe and economical manner. The Planner coordinates between Operations and Maintenance to effectively plan, schedule, and execute the work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planner should have excellent field experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment at petroleum, chemical or other related process facilities.
  • Planner must be able to read & comprehend P&IDs, Equipment Drawings, Isometric Sketches, Procedures, Inspection Test Plans, Inspection Maintenance Plans, Loop Sheets and Instrument Spec Sheets
  • Planners should be proficient in SAP, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Planner perform all types planning and inspection on Instrument & Electrical equipment
  • Planner must build job plans that clearly show special instructions and required documentation such as MOC information, QA/QC needs, P&ID’s, spec sheets, required skill crafts and duration, specialty tools, equipment and reserve or create purchase orders for necessary components
  • Planners must be able to walk down all jobs for scoping and planning including climbing stairs, ladders to heights of 150 feet and carry weights up to 50lbs
  • Planners must be able to plan and estimate multiple craft disciplines including paint, scaffolding, insulation, pipefitting, boiler making, welding, rigging, QA/QC and Inspection
  • Must be able to work Over Time including weekends and be on call out list periodically as required
  • Have good communication skills to have two-way communications with Maintenance Foreman and Operations
  • Acts as a safety leader. Routinely participates in toolbox safety meetings and ensures MPC policies and practices are followed.
  • Assist Operations with troubleshooting as needed to proactively reduce maintenance backlog and resolve operational issues.
  • Lead, Mentor, and Coach ALL fellow employees on instrumentation.
  • Assist in identifying warehouse stock items that have gone obsolete to delete these from stock. Also identify the upgraded or replacement items to replace these in the future.
  • Help investigate, and resolve chronic instrument reliability issues, along with our Reliability Engineering group.
  • Responsible for identifying repairs to be performed by off-site repair shops and coordinating through to execute these repairs.
  • Identify and coordinate onsite repairs by an outside vendor when required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
  • Must have hands on industrial electrical and instrumentation expertise.
  • Must have 5 years field experience in troubleshooting and repairing E&I equipment at petroleum, chemical or other related process facilities required.
  • Must be able to read & comprehend P&IDs, Equipment Drawings, Electrical One-lines and schematics, Inspection Testing, Loop Sheets and Instrument Spec Sheets.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft: Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must have good communication skills to have two-way communications with Maintenance Foreman and Operations. Must be a team player.
  • Must have good organizational, planning, troubleshooting and problem- solving skills.
  • Must be a pro-active, self-started, detailed oriented with the ability to identify areas that need improvement.
  • Must be able to physically perform the position which includes office tasks and refinery tasks which includes but not limited to walking down all jobs for scoping and planning, climbing stairs, ladders to heights of 150 feet, carry weights up to 50lbs and wearing the appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to work Monday- Thursday from 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Must be able to take occasional calls and assignments after hours. Must be able to work extended hours during turnaround times, weekends and holidays as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field desired.
  • Proficient with Power Point. SAP or other planning software desired.
  • Prior planning and coordinating E&I work desired.
  • Prior leadership skills are highly desired.
