POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Refining & Marketing (R&M) Consolidations Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of R&M financial planning, reporting, and analysis to support strategic decisions and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include analysis of results, developing monthly forecasts and the annual business plan, providing insightful financial analysis, and helping drive business performance through effective use of financial data.

This position demands meticulous attention to detail and a firm commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in every facet of the role, from data analysis to process optimization and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Insights & Analysis:

  • Leads efforts to leverage financial, operational, and market data to extract valuable business insights and drive performance outcomes.

  • Provides detailed performance insights for operational and financial P&Ls, highlighting areas for improved performance and identifying opportunities to add incremental value.

  • Tracks real-time operational and market indicators to bridge current conditions to anticipated financial results.

  • Oversees the preparation of reporting packages, including comprehensive metrics reporting, analysis of business trends, forecast and business plan variances, and other ad hoc executive-level analysis.

  • Supports quarterly and annual external reporting, including earnings releases and earnings call support information.

  • Develops and implements processes and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial planning and analysis. Utilizes advanced analytics and data visualization tools to communicate complex financial information clearly.

Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Accountable for the monthly financial forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Financializes operating plans and assimilates large data sets to produce accurate financial forecasts including the R&M income and cash flow statements.

  • Leads the annual business planning process, coordinating with various departments to gather input and ensure alignment with the overall business strategy.

  • Develops financial models and scenarios to support the business planning process and assess the impact of potential business decisions.

Advisory & Support:

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to organizational leaders, providing data-driven insights and analysis to support key decision-making processes across the business, and helps leaders make informed choices about operational and strategic initiatives.

  • Identifies and assesses risks and opportunities that could impact operational and financial performance.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Acts as a liaison between the operational organization and Finance/IT to ensure financial and accounting activities align with organizational needs.

  • Collaborates with other finance and business teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting and planning, and to support collaborative decision-making.

  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment on financial goals and performance.

  • Presents complex financial information to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Develops and maintain a high-performing BP&A team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Sets clear goals and direction for the team, aligning with strategic pillars and organizational objectives.

  • Monitors team performance and provide regular feedback to ensure achievement of organizational goals.

  • Creates and implements a formal development program to enhance the team's business acumen and analytical skills.

  • Allocates time to coaching and mentoring team members, supporting their professional growth and development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Majors in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred.

  • MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of finance experience with a strong record of career progression is required.

  • Ability to develop a clear, actionable strategy and execution plan in support of an overall business vision/objective.

  • Proficient with creating and presenting to senior leaders is preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence at the highest levels.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required

SKILLS:

  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, collaborative, multi-tasking environment.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the company including executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across departments (such as finance, accounting, strategy, business development, refining, commercial, or marketing)

  • Detail oriented with proven problem-solving skills.
