Job Summary
The Mechanical Design Engineer is a member of the Perry Design Engineering Section. The goal of the section is to produce high-quality technical products, that serve to improve the overall safety, reliability and efficiency of the operating nuclear power plant.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Preparing modifications and maintaining mechanical calculations up to date.
- Assisting in the development of solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance
- Providing technical expertise in both long-term equipment reliability and improvement initiatives, as well as provide day-to-day technical support to the sites as needed.
- Developing solutions to complex problems, assisting in both long-term and short-term strategies.
- Develop timely solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance consistent with design requirements.
- Ensuring changes to the design requirements are identified, documented, controlled, evaluated, and approved.
- Supporting problem identification and resolution using the Corrective Action Program.
- Managing and completing assigned activities to support timely implementation for required plant operations.
- Maintaining the plant design and licensing basis complying with industry standards and regulations.
- Preparing technical reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and analytical ability
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to make formal technical presentations
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of employees
- Skilled to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadline
- Willingness to work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessary
- Must reside within site-specific ERO response time
**Additional experience (nuclear preferred) and education will be considered when deciding job grade and compensation**
- Mechanical power plant facilities and / or design experience preferred
- Prior professional-level engineering experience is preferred
