POSITION SUMMARY:

The Rail Operations Coordinator is responsible for working together with a small team to coordinate and manage railcar repairs, inspections, and maximizing the rail fleets utilization. Key duties include interfacing with railcar owners, third party service providers, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining safe and efficient rail operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, coordinates, and maintains documentation for repair of defective rail cars by interfacing with railcar owners and shops.
  • Coordinates with 3rd party contractors on capital projects and/or maintenance work/repair
  • Inspects the rail infrastructure including track and switches for safe, reliable, efficient operations and manages any necessary repairs and/or additional inspections.
  • Liaison between Rail Leaders, Schedulers, Servicing Railroad and Marketing to manage special project cars that require change of service, specific delivery and inspection needs to meet unique process operational requirements
  • Serves as the Person in Charge (PIC) for permits including Lock Out/Tag Out, and other required safety procedures and projects
  • Responsible for multi-site inspection of railyard tracks including development of repair plan and multi-site technical review and commissioning plan for introducing new cars into the MPLX rail fleet
  • Performs technical review of tank car drawings and designs to confirm loading and unloading equipment useability within our MPLX operating fleet
  • Responsible for the accurate recordkeeping required for all regulatory and MPC required compliance regarding railcar maintenance and repairs.
  • Serves as a liaison with Federal Railroad Administration, Department of Transportation, Association of American Railroads and other regulatory agencies inspections and site visits as point of contact for recordkeeping of track inspection and railcar maintenance items
  • Assists in multi-site emergency management of engine or railcar derailments, emergency track repairs and transloading issues

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educational Requirements: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-3 years prior Rail Service/Operations experience
  • Working knowledge of US Department of Transportation, American Association of Railroads and Federal Railroad Administration standards for tank cars and track maintenance
  • Maintenance of Way Track Inspection and Advanced Car Inspection Certifications preferred
